Applications for Planning and Listed Building Consent were submitted to Manchester City Council in March 2016 relating to Manchester Metropolitan University’s iconic former Hollings Campus. The proposals will see the refurbishment and change of use of this Grade II Listed Building, and the construction of an 11 storey ‘Gateway Building’ to provide 210 apartments, associated amenity spaces, a gym and a coffee shop co-working area.

Submission of the applications followed a significant level of consultation with Manchester City Council’s planning, conservation, and highways officers, Historic England, the Manchester Modernist and 20th Century societies, and the local community including a drop-in event at the Toast Rack.

Paul Butler Associates Ltd coordinated the above consultation, along with the planning submission itself. This included the production of a Planning and Regeneration Statement, Statement of Community Involvement, Tall Building Statement, and as part of the Environmental Impact Assessment of the proposals, Paul Butler Associates Ltd also coordinated the Environmental Statement.
