The proposed redevelopment of the site comprised the demolition of the pub and construction of a local retail development comprising a Cooperative neighbourhood foodstore, and two small retail units along with associated car parking and landscaping works.

The scheme was unanimously approved at Tameside’s Planning Committee in October 2015. Paul Butler Associates Ltd provided strategic planning and heritage advice, oversaw the pre-application consultation with Tameside Council, prepared a supporting Planning and Retail Statement, and coordinated the planning application.
