On behalf of Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council (OMBC), we are pleased to present this online public exhibition which will be available to view from the 27th June to 7th July.
The proposals are for the brand-new theatre that will be a key part of a new-look town centre – the new theatre will provide a more modern, accessible venue for performers and audiences from Oldham and beyond. The proposals relate to a series of buildings in Oldham’s Cultural Quarter and adjacent to Greaves Street, including the Grade II Listed former post office, former museum building, and the former Friends’ Meeting House.
The proposals seek to retain and re-purpose the former Post Office and former Friends’ Meeting House as integrated parts of the new Oldham Theatre. The former Museum is proposed to be demolished to enable a new auditorium and associated spaces to be built. The development will provide a new home for Oldham Coliseum Theatre, and other uses.
A drop in event for the wider community is to be held between 4pm and 7pm on Monday 3rd July in the foyer of Gallery Oldham, 35 Greaves St, Oldham, OL1 1AL. For those not able to attend the drop in sessions, the consultation boards will remain on display in the foyer of Gallery Oldham from 28th June to 3rd July. In addition, the proposals are also being displayed via this online exhibition from until 5th July.
The plans have been prepared by FCB Studios. We would welcome any comments. After the consultation has ended, all comments received will be reviewed and the plans will be finalised. Paul Butler Associates will then be submitting an application for planning permission and listed building consent to Oldham Council.
