This scheme will involve the demolition of the existing Birtenshaw Hall and the construction of a new educational complex. The school has a specialism in supporting children with additional needs. The development will include ten new classrooms surrounding a sensory courtyard, therapy rooms, staff facilities and offices, a hydrotherapy pool with changing facilities, a dining and sports hall and an outdoor play area.
Paul Butler Associates produced the Planning Policy Statement submitted in support of the application which outlined the acceptability of the proposed development in view of the green belt constraint affecting the site.
